MAPP Construction has been doing business in Dallas and Houston for years. But the Baton Rouge-based company has recently experienced significant growth in the Dallas area and is looking to expand its presence in that market even more. MAPP has hired several management-level employees to oversee projects in the Dallas area and has also retained a public relations firm to help build its brand. "We are bringing on some pretty talented folks to take advantage of the opportunities in Dallas, which is a market that is really heating up," says MAPP Chairman and CEO Mike Polito. "We're trying to increase our presence there." Much of the company's recent work in the Dallas area has been tenant build-outs in class A office space for large law firms, Fortune 500 companies and high-profile clients like Pandora, Red Bull, Texas Instruments and Raising Cane's. Polito says MAPP is not focusing more attention on Texas than his native Louisiana, but he says Dallas, in particular, is experiencing a lot of growth. "I wouldn't say it's on fire," he says. "But it's extremely strong from a construction standpoint." The company's Houston presence is also growing. Last fall, MAPP relocated to newer, larger offices there. MAPP is the second-largest commercial construction firm in Baton Rouge, with 2012 revenues of nearly $154 million. —Stephanie Riegel
