BATON ROUGE, La., July 14, 2009—MAPP Construction, LLC has been awarded a National Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Pyramid Award for its Chevron Northpark project. MAPP was nationally recognized for its outstanding performance on this project at ABC’s 19th Annual Excellence in Construction Awards Celebration at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C. on June 24, 2009. The Chevron Northpark project, located in Covington, La., is the first LEED Gold Certified project for both Chevron Corporation and the state of Louisiana. It consists of four buildings totaling over 300,000 square feet. Included on the campus are offices, a fitness center, a full-service cafeteria, labs and a parking garage. Chevron Northpark will serve as the headquarters for Chevron North America Exploration and Productions Gulf of Mexico Business Unit. After winning an ABC Pelican Chapter Award of Excellence locally, MAPP’s Chevron Northpark project qualified to move on to the Commercial Division of the national competition. Tommy Tucker and Larry Douglas of MAPP Construction, Kurt Peterson of KDC and Ken Finley of Chevron Corporation made the trip to Washington to accept the award. ““Award winning projects don’t happen without the collective efforts of dedicated people. I’m very proud of the team that delivered North Park. First and foremost safely, and then with all the other qualities that have made it so successful,”” commented Finley, Project Manager, Global Engineering and Construction, Chevron Business and Real Estate Services. Projects are judged on many criteria, including: safety, schedule, difficulties overcome, and uniqueness. MAPP is truly honored to be the recipient of this award.
