Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office
45,187 SF
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Forensic Crime Laboratory Facility is a four-story, 45,000-square-foot facility located in Gretna, Louisiana. The facility was designed to replace the existing Crime Laboratory, which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, and includes separate laboratory workspaces for DNA testing, forensic testing, a state-of-the-art photo laboratory, and latent fingerprint testing. The building foundation was comprised of auger cast piles, and the building structure was a cast-in-place concrete system, which included the roof deck. The building skin was composed of insulated metal wall panels, with the building HVAC system specifically designed to keep the DNA and forensic laboratory spaces at negative air pressure.
