Nexus Recovery Center - Doswell Medical Building

Built as the first phase of a multi-year master plan for the Nexus Recovery Center campus, the Doswell Medical Building gave clients a single, defined point of entry into care, bringing admissions, medical detoxification, and medicated assisted treatment programs together under one roof for the first time. Positioned at the center of campus, the one-story building houses admissions offices, group counseling rooms, an on-site pharmacy, two (2) medical exam rooms, eight (8) detox dormitory rooms, and supporting space for counselors, medical providers, and staff.

Before construction could begin, the existing playground serving the campus Child Development Center had to be carefully removed and rebuilt on the west side of the CDC building, preserving that program without interruption. Once the Doswell Medical Building was operational, the former Adult Women 2 dormitory, long known on campus as the "Med Room," was demolished and cleared, with the timing sequenced so client services continued uninterrupted through the transition. The project also delivered a new circular entry drive and client drop-off area outside the building, giving the campus a clear, welcoming arrival experience for clients entering treatment for the first time.
